A New Chapter Begins Print E-mail
Well they finally did it, Moved to their dream home, just north of Cape Town, it's a period house circ 1904 with lots of history. I believe they call it "Cape Dutch Style"; all I can say is that it is very grand - more to the style I am used too! For Borris however it's another story, he is not allowed upstairs and when he comes back from the beach he's not even allowed in the house till he dries off. He is a silly dog, I keep telling him not to go in to the sea and especially not to roll in the sand after to get completely covered in it! So of course Colin and Mark are going to keep him out!
I must say that moving here has been a real turn up for the books, we walk to the beach every morning, just five minutes away, then depending on how we all feel we decide which way to walk on the beach, left towards Cape Town with the views of Table mountain, Lions Head, Signal Hill and the new football stadium which is being built for 2010 or we can turn left and walk to the ship wreck and towards Blouberg with all the kite surfers playing in the sea. Sometimes we can spot whales (depending on the months) Dolphins and seals; it's always fun to count the number of ships out at sea as well. All in all we get about an hour on the beach each day its fab.

When we get back Babb's is waiting for us by the gate, she has settled in very well and even I put up with her tom boy ways, I think she thinks she is a dog, but she's not, she can climb trees and who wants to do that?

The other day Borris found a fish and thought to himself that he would take it back as a present for Babb's. He hid it in his mouth so Colin thought it was a bit of seaweed or old drift wood, the problem was that when we got to the tow path Colin always gives us a biscuit, sort of half way snack, and Borris had to spit the fish out so that he could eat his biscuit, he then promptly forgot about the fish, so hard luck Babb's!

All three of us are having great fun helping Colin and Mark supervise the builders. Our Dads are having the whole house renovated ready for the "grand opening" in June. My job is to go from room to room finding the dustiest corner I can to watch all the work going on.

I think Borris's tasks involve health and safety amongst other things ( he likes to be involved in everything and not miss out) but in particular he likes to get in the way and slow the workman down, this way I am sure he feels there will be no accidents (we think he's wrong there as he will probably cause one! Watch this space!) When it comes to lunch time he's there checking all the lunch boxes to make sure they are up to standard, the builders have to be quick otherwise they might lose their lunch.

Babb's is in charge of quality control, gets into everything and soon tells them if she is not happy about something. Yesterday that was defiantly the case; they had moved her bed, so she spent the whole day on a pile of bricks begrudgingly moving only when they were really desperate to get some bricks for building, that will teach them!

Well I am being called for supper, so I am off, no point hanging around here when I have more important things to attend to like my stomach. It's been nice chatting, come back soon for another update.

Best wishes, Todd, Borris and Miss Babb's
